GYNECOMASTIA
Male Breast Reduction

This surgical procedure corrects over-developed male breast tissue, creating a flatter, firmer and more masculine chest contour. For many men who are striving to improve their physique this procedure will improve their appearance where diet and exercise cannot.
The process would start with a consultation with Dr. Bounds where a plan will be developed after assessing your overall health and body shape.

Is the Surgery Right for Me?
Personal Decision

Many men have found that surgery to reduce excess breast tissue has allowed them to feel more attractive on the beach and in the gym. For them it has been the permanent removal of problem fat areas. The results can be gratifying and dramatic. The decision to pursue male breast reduction surgery for Gynecomastia is a very personal and important one. The factors that will affect your decision and outcome are unique to you.
Our experience and expertise can make your choice a little easier. You can find out if this procedure is right for you by contacting our office for a consultation.

The Surgery

The surgical procedure for male breast reduction surgery involves the surgical removal of excess tissue by direct excision or with liposuction. Where fatty tissue is the primary source of over-development, liposuction techniques remove fat to recontour the chest. Incisions hidden at the areola (dark pigmented area surrounding the nipple), breast crease or in the underarm allow for removal of excess glandular tissue and recontouring. The procedures can include areola reduction. Liposuction can be performed as well to recontour other adjacent areas.

This procedure is generally performed as an outpatient procedure in our AAAASF Certified Surgery Center. Dr. Bounds and his Anesthesiologist along with the surgical team have your safety in mind. After surgery in the Operating Suite you will awake in the Recovery room attended by a Registered Nurse. Once you are fully awake you may go home with an adult family member or a trusted friend.

The initial swelling dissipates in two to four weeks. Finals results appear in two to four months. Continued fading of incision lines continues for one year.
