Facial Implants

In recent years the use of facial implants has provided a way for the plastic surgeon to help modify the basic shape and balance of the face. These carefully shaped implants can be used to build up a receding chin and/or reshape the jaw line. In the hands of a board certified plastic surgeon, trained in the aesthetics of the face, facial implants make both subtle and dramatic changes to an individual's face.

A Personal Decision
If concerns about the contour of your profile or balance of your face exist the first step in the process would be a consultation. After listening to your expectations and desires and analyzing your face and features, Dr. Bounds would make a recommendation personalized to you.
The Surgery
Dr. Bounds and his Anesthesiologist have your safety and comfort in mind. Surgery would take place in the AAAAF certified surgical suite. You will awake from surgery in the Recovery Room attended by a Registered Nurse. Once you are fully awake you may go home with a family member or trusted close friend.
There may be some temporary discomfort which can be controlled with oral medication. The dressing is removed within 24-48 hours. Any sutures are typically removed within a week and most bruising or swelling is resolved in one to two weeks. Most patients are able to go back to work in a week and find their improved appearance at two to four weeks. Aerobic activities or those that would jar or bump the face may be restricted for longer periods.
