     Restylane and Juvederm are available to provide a subtle change which will enhance your natural beauty.  At Plastic Surgery of Virginia Beach, lip augmentation is an individualized process.  It begins with a  consultation with Dr. Bounds who will make a recommendation as to the proper fullness and shape for your lips which will complement your individual facial structure.  

     The newer injectables provide predictable and longer lasting means to fill and plump the lips.  Restylane and Juvederm are both composed of hyaluronic acid, a natural component of the human body.  No allergy tested is necessary.  Using these substances in the lips is considered by th FDA to be "off label" and the determination to use them in lip enhancement is left up to the physician.  The fillers are a clear gel that is placed into the lips following use of an anesthetic that is provided prior to the procedure to minimize discomfort.  Patients may experience some swelling or redness for a few days.  The fillers are expected to last five to six months.
