Blepharoplasty (Eyelid Surgery)
     As a focal point on your face, eyes have a tremendous impact on your appearance. The eyes are often the first place to show signs of aging. Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery, is a surgical procedure to remove fat from the upper and lower eyelids. It removes puffy bags, pouches and the excess skin from under and over the eyes that gives that undesired tired look. Many people have been amazed at the dramatic impact in their appearance resulting from eyelid surgery.

     If you’re considering eyelid surgery, the process begins with the consultation. In assessing your overall health, vision and tear production, a plan can be formulated to achieve the best result. If you wear glasses or contact lenses, be sure to bring them to the consultation.

A Personal Decision
     Every year thousands of people successfully undergo blepharoplasty. The decision to pursue eyelid surgery is a very personal and important one. The factors that will affect your decision and outcome are unique to you.

The Surgery
     As an outpatient, Dr. Bounds and his Board Certified or Board Eligible Anesthesiologist have your safety and comfort in mind. After surgery in the Operating Suite, you will awake from the surgery in the Recovery Room, attended by a Registered Nurse. Once you’re fully awake you may then go home with a family member or trusted close friend.

     Typically, you should be able to read or watch television after two or three days. You should be able to return to work within four to seven days, depending on the level of activity required for your job. Aerobic activities will be restricted for two to three weeks. You may resume wearing contact lenses after two weeks.
